Jose Bernardo Guedes, Jr., 96, of Fernwood Road, Bristol, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at the Grace Barker Nursing Home.  He was the husband of the late Manuela (Avila) Guedes.

Born in Porto, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Bernardo Guedes and Zulmiria Teixeira Melo Guedes.

He is survived by his children, Jose Anselmo Guedes and his wife Adelia, Madelena Baptista and her husband Eduardo, Orlando Guedes and his wife Alzira and Ildefonso Guedes and his wife Noemia; grandchildren, Rui Guedes, Ana Guedes, Tanya Guedes, Carol Baptista, Richard Baptista, Crystal Baptista, Edward Baptista, Joseph Guedes, Adam Guedes, Katelyn Guedes and Brittany Guedes; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Guedes attended school in Portugal and graduated from College of Music in Porto, Portugal. He worked for Converse and American Tourister before retiring in 1986.

Mr. Guedes was a founder of Amadores Acoreanos and was involved with many musical and theater groups in Faial and here in Bristol. He wrote and performed his own music and was a playwright for local theater. Ranchos de Natal was one of his favorite things to do during the holiday season. He always included his family as well as the members’ families in this enjoyable tradition.

His funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol. William J. Cabral, 95, Bristol

William J. Cabral , 95 , died Tuesday Aug. 11, 2015, at Elmhurst Extended Care, Providence.

He was the husband of Elsie A. (Alves) Cabral.

Mr. Cabral was born in Tiverton, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Cambra) Cabral.

He was an executive chef for server nation for over 20 years, and was also the food service director for Morton Hospital.

Mr. Cabral was a veteran of the U.S. Army as a Technician 5th grade during World War II.

Mr. Cabral was a Bristol resident most of his life, coming from Tiverton and Fall River. He was a member of Christian Community Bible Church in Riverside, where he was a Deacon,  and was lifetime member of the VFW, member of Warren Portuguese Club.

He was a trumpet player, and enjoyed dancing and swimming, and was a competitive tap dancer at an early age.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Owen Favro of California, William J. Cabral Jr. of Florida, and Richard A. Cabral of Florida; his daughters, Barbara Ann Shaw of Fall River, Deborah A. Allen of Bristol, and Karen A. Booth of Barrington.

He was the grandfather of nine, great-grandfather of 18, and the great- great-grandfather of 3, also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cabral was the father of the late William H. Cabral, and the brother of the late John Cabral, and the Late Mary Rogers.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, Aug. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m., in Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. His funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a committal prayers at 11 a.m. in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown. Burial with Military Honors will follow.

Hazel E. Carr, 90, Tiverton

Carr 001Hazel E. (Manchester) Carr, 90, of Tiverton, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Holder E. and Iona (White) Manchester.
She was a member of the Bliss Four Corners Congregational Church, Tiverton where she was the organist since 1950 and also the church historian.
Survivors include a son, Wayne A. Carr of Little Compton; two daughters, Linda M. Albernaz of Tiverton and Nina L. Carter of Portsmouth; a brother, Clifford Manchester of Newport; two sisters, Phyllis N. Miranda of Tiverton and June Thornsbury-Parks of Newport; 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Gerald A. Carr and sister of the late Lloyd Manchester, Helen Huntley and Olive Fonseca.
Her memorial service, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Saturday, Aug. 22, at Bliss Four Corners Congregational Church, Tiverton, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.

Louis A. Almeida Jr., 66

louis almeidaLouis A. Almeida Jr., 66, died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Louis A. Almeida, Sr. and Louise (Rego) Almeida.

Mr. Almeida worked as an electrician with Multi-State Electric and proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Taussig during the Vietnam War.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He leaves his two loving children, Louis A. Almeida III and his wife Danielle Drabble Almeida of Westport, and Bethany L. Dobson and her husband Robert of Belton, Tex.  He was the cherished grandfather of Logan Dobson, Cole Almeida, and Dylan Dobson.

ManchesterSophie K. (Lepianka) Manchester, 93, of Westport, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Philip Manchester, Jr.

Born in Lowell, raised in Franklin, NH, daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Witalisz) Lepianka, she had resided in Westport for over 60 years.

She attended secretarial school in Concord, NH. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a secretary for both the Town of Westport’s Highway Department and Pierce Painting of Fall River. Mrs. Manchester had also worked as a telephone operator in Little Compton. A veteran of World War II, she served her country in the United States Navy. Mrs. Manchester enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her two daughters, Martha Manchester of Westport and Kathy A. Tansey and her husband Russell of Dartmouth; her sister, Wanda Jordan of Northfield, NH; two grandchildren, Shannon and Meagan Tansey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Dr. Tadeusz Lepianka and Alfreda Ketchum.

Charles R. Crites Sr., 82, Tiverton

Charles R. Crites Sr., 82, of Tiverton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (Helger) Crites.

Born in Reedy, WV, son of the late Edgar and Hazel (McCoy) Crites, he was a longtime resident of Tiverton. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Navy.

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a self-employed landscaper. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Victor “Garcia” Halevi, Westport

Halevi 001Victor “Garcia” Halevi, formerly Steven Victor Richman, died on August 7, 2015, after a brief illness.  He was born on June 9, 1944 in Providence, RI, son of the late Florence and Saul Richman.  He leaves a sister, Martha Carroll of Mexico, and a niece Jennifer Sarito Carroll of Colorado, his devoted dog Louie, and many beloved friends.

He spent his childhood in New Bedford and his high school years in Brookline, Mass.  He graduated from Columbia University with a BA in philosophy and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a MA in forestry.  After serving in the Coast Guard Reserve during the Vietnam War, he traveled widely in Europe and Israel and lived on the West and East Coasts of the USA, finally settling in Westport, where he lived for the past 20 years.

He had many occupations including camp counselor, environmental worker and advocate, fisherman, legal assistant, school teacher, health care worker, merchant marine, and launch pilot at Tripp’s Boatyard.  He was also the proprietor of Coastal Livery of Westport.

Garcia was a folk singer, accompanying himself on banjo, guitar, mountain dulcimer and double bass.  He loved sharing the music and stories of the people with his many friends.  His time and talent were given freely to the causes of peace and environmental responsibility.  He lived his principles to the fullest.  His humor, kindness and generosity will be sorely missed by those who loved him.

Raymond S. Sanchas, 93, Warren

Raymond S. Sanchas, 93, of Warren, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at the Home & Hospice Care Inpatient Center. He was the husband of Marie I. (Gallant) Sanchas; they had been married for 69 years.
Mr. Sanchas was a son of the late Marianno and Corine Charboneau) Sanchas. A lifelong Warren resident, he was a mail carrier for the US Post Office. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was very active in veterans’ organizations. He volunteered for the VA Hospital for more than 40 years, and also the Rhode Island Veterans’ Home. He was a national committeeman for the American Legion, past state commander of the DAV, and Commander of the RI State Veterans Council. He was a member of Engine 3 and the Warren Rescue, and a lifelong member of St. Jean Baptiste Church.
Mr. Sanchas leaves two sons, Raymond Sanchas of Pennsylvania and Robert Sanchez of Warren; five daughters, Mary Miller of North Carolina, Nancy Hart of Massachusetts, Autumn Breeze of Warren, Isabelle Sanchez of Rhode Island and Catherine Jones of Alaska. His daughter Ann Marie Sanchez predeceased him. Many grand and great-grandchildren also survived him.
His funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.

Paul A. Baraby, 47, Westport

BarabyGood 002Paul A. Baraby, 47, of Westport, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.  Born in Fall River, son of William A. and Pauline L. (Canuel) Baraby, he was a lifelong resident of Westport.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport.  He had previously worked for Baraby Electric and was a call firefighter for the Westport Fire Dept.  Mr. Baraby graduated from Diman Regional High School where he excelled in many sports.  He enjoyed taking care of his pride and joy, his 1967 Firebird, spending time on the river on his boat, and being outdoors, but most of all he loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, survivors include a brother, William G. Baraby and his wife Diane of Westport; a sister, Diane T. Moniz and her companion George Giguere of Westport; his companion, Debra Belanger of Westport; nieces and nephews, Melissa Chaunt, Thomas Moniz, Jr., Barbara Ferreira, Jessica Baraby and Keith Moniz; several great nieces and nephews; and a great great nephew.

He was brother of the late Robert N. Baraby.

The family would like to thank the Westport Police Dept. and the Westport Fire Dept. for their assistance and support throughout Paul’s struggle with addiction.

Funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Thursday, Aug. 20, from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 9 a.m.. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church at 10. Calling hours, Wednesday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.

Frances J. (Fox) Stabila, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at home. She was the wife of Salvador “Sal” Stabila.
Mrs. Stabila was born in Newport, a daughter of the late Napoleon and Matilda (Contois) LaChance.
She worked for the Barrington Senior Center as a member of the kitchen staff before retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Jean Baptiste Church and a Warren resident for more than 75 years, coming from Newport.
She was the mother of Salvador P. Stabila of West Cliffe, Colo., Paul F. Stabila of Coventry, James M. Stabila of Fall River and Cynthia A. Jones of Warren; grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of seven.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, in St. Jean Baptiste Church, 328 Main St., Warren. Burial follows in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

Mary D. Puniello, 92, of Lantana, Fla., formerly of Bristol, died on Aug. 6, 2015.

She was born on Richmond Street in Bristol, the daughter of the late Carmine and Anna (Zampini) Puniello.

Mary was a second-grade teacher in the Bristol school system and walked to school every day in sun, rain or snow.  She retired in 1986 and moved to Delray Beach, Fla.

She graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1941 and was the class Salutatorian. She later graduated from Rhode Island School of Education. She was an avid fan of Providence College basketball and had season tickets for many years. She was also involved in several civic activities, most notably the Fourth of July Committee.

She loved to travel. She visited most states in America, took many Caribbean cruises and visited every country in Europe. She also travelled to Africa, China, India, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Egypt and Israel, among others. She was evacuated from Havana, Cuba, with other travelers just before the U.S. Embargo in 1958.

She was a loving and generous aunt and took great pride in her nieces and nephews. When most of them graduated from high school, she took them on a trip to Europe as a graduation present, sometimes visiting family in Rome, Italy.

Mary is survived by her brother, Frank, of Bristol and sister-in-law Hortense (Tancy) of Bristol. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dominick (Philomena), Nicholas (Ann), John and Felix. She is also survived by one niece and seven nephews, Carmine Puniello, Anthony Puniello, John Puniello, Frances Ann Souza, Nicholas Puniello, Michael Puniello, Paul Puniello, Joseph Puniello and 18 grandnieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol, RI.

Nancy Church (Mossop) Wennerstrom, 85, Florida

Nancy Church (Mossop) Wennerstrom, 85, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fla. and formerly of Northbrook, Ill., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 17, 2015, in the company of her children.  She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Jack A. Wennerstrom.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Lincoln Mossop and Lillian Church Mossop. Her early childhood was spent in Bristol before moving to Providence, where she attended both Lincoln School and Hope High School. Likewise, her early summers were spent on Prudence Island and Narragansett Bay, where she developed a love for the sea. World travel and ocean cruising later became a passion, which she generously shared with her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her three children, her son William Lincoln Materna and daughter-in-law Barbara of Providence, and her devoted daughters Wendy Church Johannsen of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and June Wallace Dales of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Christian W. Johannsen, Lily Ann and Lincoln W. Dales, and Christine M. Loeffler (Anthony W.) of Denver, Colo., and their children, W. Lincoln and Preston T. Loeffler. Additionally, she was predeceased by her adored brother W. Lincoln Mossop Jr. and is also survived by his wife Terry and their children, her loving niece and God Daughter Ellen Mossop Saville, her husband Wilson G. Saville II, and her nephew W. Lincoln Mossop III.
Her funeral will be held Monday, August 24 at 11 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church, 399 Hope St., Bristol, RI.  Burial will immediately follow at the North Burial Ground, Bristol. Mary Elizabeth Kane, Tiverton

Mary KaneMary Elizabeth Kane (Giordano) passed away Saturday night in Boca Raton, Florida, after battling a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Joel Stephan Kane and her family.

Mary was born on January 18, 1935, in Rochester, New York, the second of five girls to Carl and Marion (Maira) Giordano. She was raised with her sisters Theresa, Carol, Judith and Rachelle in Rochester and Arlington, Massachusetts.

Her legacy includes seven children, Christopher Theodore Culotta, Judith Ann Wright (Culotta), Samuel Anthony Culotta, Carl Joseph Culotta, Louis Vincent Culotta, Charles Harry Isadore Kane and Jeremy Seth Kane.

Mary especially enjoyed cooking sumptuous meals for her large family and friends, taking walks around Tiverton, and tending to her beautiful gardens. She was a talented artist, traveling around the world to paint watercolor scenes and landscapes; as well, she was an avid knitter and jewelry designer.

She was a charitable soul throughout her life, extending her love of cooking and the arts through many civic endeavors, including her local and state garden clubs.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa’s Church, 265 Stafford Road, Tiverton.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visiting hours Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River.  Burial in Temple Beth El Cemetery, Fall River.  For tributes or directions: www.waring-sullivan.com

Smokey Rulon, Westport

RulonSmokey Rulon died unexpectedly on August 5, 2015.  He was born Waldo S. Rulon on March 9, 1959 to Phillip J. Rulon and Elisabeth S. (Sherman) Rulon.  He is survived by his children, Justin, Shea, and Kate Rulon of Milton Massachusetts; two brothers, and two nieces.  He also leaves behind a large extended family and circle of friends.

Smokey was a gifted dental technician whose work was well known in the industry.  He was also an accomplished skier and sailor. He was a welcome friend to skiers in Franconia Notch, NH, working for many years at Cannon Mountain during ski season. During the summer months, he was a reliable companion and guide to sailors and enthusiasts in Westport and other sailing venues.  His children carry on his love for the mountains and the sea.

Smokey was an organ donor, others can honor his life by following his example.

Robert Pearson, 88, Riverside

Robert H. Pearson 88, of Riverside died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015.  He was the beloved husband of Betty (Gamble) Pearson. Born in Bessemer City, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Meek and Alma (Froneberger) Pearson.

He graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University in North Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree. Bob was President of the Jones Mayflower Moving and Storage Company until selling the business then was a consultant for Pearson Associates until retiring.  He was an active member of the East Providence/Seekonk Rotary and had perfect attendance for 57 years. He was a Past Master of Overseas Lodge No. 40 F&AM and a member since 1957. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence, Palestine Temple Shrine, Masonic Veterans’ Association, Swords of Bunker Hill, Grand Lodge of RI and the Order of the Eastern Star.  Bob was a member of the New England Trucking Association, the RI Trucking Association where he was a past President and Treasurer, the RI Movers Conference, the Anawan Club, the West Barrington Men’s Club and was a member of the Providence Presbyterian Church where he was a past Deacon. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

Besides his wife of 67 years,  he leaves a son, David H. Pearson of San Diego, Calif., 4 daughters, Mary L. (Robert) Rosser of Newton, Mass., Sara J. Pearson of Rumford, Debbie Pearson of Victoria, Minnesota, Myra Pearson of Independence, Minnesota, two sisters, Peggy Pearson of Bessemer, N.C., Corinne McCain of Decatur, Alabama, and a granddaughter Kristen Pearson of San Diego, Calif.. He was also the brother of the late Lee Bradley Pearson.

The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside. Burial was private. Mrs. Rose (Securo) Rodrigues, age 92, of Warwick, formerly of Prospect Street, Bristol, died Saturday, Aug, 22, 2015, just four days shy of her 93rd birthday, at the Greenwood Center Nursing Home, Warwick. She was the wife of the late Arcelio “Sal” Rodrigues, who preceded her in death in September 2013.

Born in Bristol and a resident of Bristol for most of her life before moving to Warwick 24 years ago, she was a daughter of the late Biagio and Nancy (DeRosa) Securo.

She was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1940. Rose worked for 28 years with the Bristol school system lunch program in various Bristol schools.

She was a communicant of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society. Rose enjoyed hooking rugs, needlework, cooking, especially baking.

She is survived by a son, Steven Rodrigues (Suzanne) of Warwick; a granddaughter, Sallie Suzanne Brooks; a grandson, Brad Steven Rodrigues; and great-grandchildren, Ella Rose and Jackson Thomas Brooks. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Meunier, and four brothers, Michael, Joseph, Frank and Vincent Securo.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Saturday morning only from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.

obit-Deborah MaisanoDeborah L. Maisano, age 62, of Thames Street, Bristol, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Fall River, and a lifelong Bristol resident, she was a daughter of the late Louis P. and Ida (Medeiros) Maisano.

Deborah was a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1970, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Rogers Williams University. She was a substitute teacher for the Bristol school system for many years and was a sales associate for a number of years for the East Bay Newspapers in Bristol.

Deborah was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Rosary and Altar Society at the church.

She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Maisano (Susan) of Bristol; a sister, Lori A. Deese (the late Brian) of Midland, N.C.; three nieces, Ashley and Lauren Maisano, and Kayla Deese; a nephew, Jonathan Deese; and a great-nephew, Isaiah Arcenia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

Ursula M. Beauregard, 83, of Punta Gorda, Fla., died peacefully at home on Monday, Aug. 24, after an illness. She was a registered nurse and the former owner/administrator of Metacom Manor Health Center in Bristol, RI.

Mrs. Beauregard, born in Pawtucket, R.I., on Feb. 18, 1932, was married to the late Arthur W. Beauregard of Pawtucket for 39 years. Her parents were James T. LaFrenais and Mary V. (Kane) LaFrenais, both of Cumberland. Before retiring to Punta Gorda full time in 2000, she lived in Lincoln, R.I., for 22 years, then in Bristol for 21 years.

Ursula Beauregard is survived by her five children: Arthur W. Jr. (Bill) and wife Kathleen (Kelly); Mark and wife Marie (Turner); Stephan; Karen and husband Stephen MacDonald; Michael and wife Gail (Landry); 16 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica, Aaron, Byron, Sandy, Mary Ann, Michael, Lauren, Stephen Jr., Alexandra, Brianne, Jaclyn and Olivia Beauregard, and Sarah, Veronica and Madeleine Bate; and 16 great-grandchildren: Colby, Nicholas, Brody, Joshua, Michael Jr., Thomas, Brianna, Sadie, Nathaniel, Fallon and Connor Beauregard; Collin and Drew Dischert, Ava Carfo, Dante Brunache and James Grant III.

Mrs. Beauregard earned a full scholarship to the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital Nursing Program and worked there as a registered nurse for 17 years, then co-owned (with her husband) and served as administrator of the award-winning, innovative Metacom Manor Health Center in Bristol, R.I., from 1977 to 1990.

She served as president of the R.I. Health Care Association and vice president of the American Health Care Association, president of the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, president of the Pawtucket Junior Women’s Club, and was named their National Outstanding Young Woman of the Year in 1965.

She served on numerous boards and won many other awards and recognitions for her generous public service through the years. She sponsored an international symposium on pancreatic cancer in Newport, RI and donated a treatment room and family waiting area at Roger Williams Hospital (as well as served as a trustee) following her husband’s death in 1990.

She was an active member of the Ya Ya’s, supporting the backpack program for homeless students in Port Charlotte, Fla., and an active member of the Isles Yacht Club in Punta Gorda, Fla.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Edward Winston Chase Allen, 93, Tiverton

Allen 001Edward Winston Chase Allen, 93, of Tiverton, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at home after a brief illness.  He was the husband of the late Myrtle Mazelle (Gray) Allen. Born in Dighton, son of the late Edward and Edna (Tripp) Allen, he had lived in Tiverton for most of his life.

Prior to retirement, he was a machinist at Sarama Lighting.  A veteran of World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Army 422nd Infantry Division.  He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was taken as a prisoner of war.

Mr. Allen was a member of the Amicable Congregational Church, American Ex-Prisoner of War, 159th 106 Infantry Division Association, Battle of the Bulge Inc., American Legion RI Post 0102, Disabled American Veterans, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Seaconnet Lodge 39 and the Social Lodge 11, Little Compton.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.
