Charles J. Carreiro Sr., 80, of Westport Harbor, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (O’Kelly) Carreiro.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Manuel and Mary (Gomes) Carreiro, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army.
Prior to retirement, he was owner of High Hill Farm. With his deep love of country music, Mr. Carreiro was a Nashville recording artist and a member of the Bristol County Boys Band.
Survivors include two sons, Charles J. Carreiro Jr. and his wife Denise of Westport, and Steven Carreiro and his wife Michelle of Westport; a daughter, Brenda Souza of Westport; three brothers, David Carreiro, Louis Carreiro and Thomas Carreiro, all of Westport; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Carreiro, Milton Gomes, Edward Carreiro and James Gomes.
