Dorothy Joan Teixeira, 80, Bristol

Dorothy Joan (Tavares) Teixeira, 80, of Hope Street passed away on April 13 at Silver Creek Manor surrounded by her loving caregivers. She was the loving wife of Vincent Teixeira her husband of 61 years.

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Manual and Edwveis (Mello) Tavares. She was the mother of Paul Teixeira of Barrington, Jonathan Teixeira of Warren, Kate Teixeira of Middletown and Kristy DuChene of New Jersey; and the sister of Manuel “Pete” Tavares and late John Tavares. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, Jonathan, Andrew, Brett, Blake, Bailey, Derek and Carly, whom she loved traveling with.

Dorothy was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and worked in sales at American Tourister and Dixon Industries before retiring. She had a love and joy for volunteering in the Bristol community.

Her funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St.  Calling hours are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Bristol.
