Irene (Alves) Borden-Arruda, 85, of Westport, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was wife of the late Emerson A. Borden. Born in Fall River, she was daughter of the late John and Virginia (Moniz) Alves. Prior to retirement, she was a C.N.A. for several nursing homes in the area.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas E. Borden, Timothy E. Borden, David B. Borden and Paul E. Borden, all of Westport; four daughters, Alice E. Magnin of New Jersey, Frances I. Butler of Westport, Mary Lou Borden of Florida, and Beverly A. Johnston of Fall River; two sisters, Mary Ringuette of Florida and Dorothy McLaughlin of Florida, a step-brother, four step-sisters, 17 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Friday, April 4, at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport at 12 noon. Calling hours will be Friday from 10 a.m.. to 12 noon prior to the service.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
