Noemia N. (Mendonca) DaSilva, 86, died peacefully on April 15 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Cedros, Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Filomena (Dutra) Mendonca. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Henrique DaSilva; her children, Cidalia Harper and her husband Robert, Carlos DaSilva and his wife Mary, and Joseph DaSilva; grandchildren Alyson Harper, Justin Harper, Evan DaSilva, Andrew DaSilva, Peter DaSilva and Kristen DaSilva; and great grandson Gabriel Ferreira. She was the sister of Zulmira Mendonca, Rugerio Mendonca and the late Aida Dutra.
Mrs. DaSilva was a communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Her funeral services were held April 21 from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Narciso and concelebrated by Rev. Luis Dutra. The liturgical readings were by Mary DaSilva and Pat DaSilva. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Peter DaSilva. The offertory gifts were presented by Cidalia Harper, Carlos DaSilva and Joseph DaSilva. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Justin Harper, Evan DaSilva, Andrew DaSilva, Peter DaSilva, Kevin Ferreira and Joseph Viveros.
