Ronald N. Costa, 65, Westport

Ronald N. Costa, 65, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at Brigham & Women’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Jackson) Costa.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Gilbert J. and Jeannette M. (Gignat) Costa.  He was a graduate of Monsignor Prevost class of 1966. Mr. Costa was employed by General Dynamics in Quincy, Mass., and Quonset Point, RI.  He attended St. John the Baptist Church, Westport.

A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He served as president of Maplewood Little League in Fall River and umpired high school softball.

Including his wife, survivors include two sons, Christopher J. Costa and his wife Danielle of Westport and Kevin M. Costa and his wife Stacey of Assonet; a daughter, Karen A. Costa of Fall River; a sister, Paulette Asselin and her husband Richard of Tolland, Conn.; three grandchildren, Madison, Brendan and Christopher II; his mother-in-law, Rita M. Jackson of Fall River; many nieces and nephews, and his dog Cinnamon.

His funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Thursday, April 10, from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10 a.m. Calling hours are Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
