Ronald P. Jarvis Sr., 76, Warren

Jarvis,Ronald_PRonald P. Jarvis Sr., 76, of Birch Swamp Road, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at home. He was the beloved husband for 51 years of Brenda (Palmieri) Jarvis. Born in Warren and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Benoit and Caroline (Carvalho Jarvais.
Ronald worked for the International Laborers Union Local 271 for 59 years, and was a member in good standing. He served in the Rhode Island National Guard for six years and the Army Reserves for two years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Mr. Jarvis held the position of Warren Town Sergeant for many years, a post for which he was very proud as he felt it was an honor and privilege to serve the Warren Town Council and the Town of Warren. He also served as the Sealer of Weights and Measures for the Town of Warren.
He was an avid hunter and sportsman and a lifetime member of the NRA and Fall River Rod and Gun Club.
Besides his wife, he leaves his loving children, Ronald P. Jarvis Jr. and his wife Deborah of Warren, Anna Maria Peters and her husband Jack of East Providence, and Robin Francis and her husband William of Bristol; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Ronald Jarvis, Heather Francis and Erik Peters; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Mc Kenna. He was also the brother the late Benoit (Jack), Richard (Dada), Leo and Ernest Jarvis, Caroline Corliss, Irene Brimmer, Gladys Couitt, Claudia Cioe, Della Westazka, and Lorraine Soares.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, where family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27. Funeral services are at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., Warren.
