Anne M. Burke, 88, Tiverton

Anne M. (Henry) Burke, 88, of Tiverton, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She was the wife of the late John J. (Jack) Burke Jr.

She was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Agnes (Halpin) Henry, and was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School.

Mrs. Burke was an avid gardener and a member and past president of the Sagkonate Garden Club in Little Compton. A talented seamstress, she also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her three children, Anne Burke Sadow and her husband Richard W. of South Dartmouth, Helen Burke Montague and her husband Jim of Little Compton, and Thomas J. Burke and his wife Barbara of Bartlett, Ill.; three grandchildren, Marie, Timothy and Carolyn; four great grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Jack and Owen; two sisters, Joan D’Adamo and her husband Tony of Fall River, and Peggy Kenney and her husband Bill of Harwich, Mass.; a brother, Joe Henry and his wife Jean of N. Reading, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Burke was also the sister of the late Thomas Henry, Edward Henry and Eleanore McDonald.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Road, Westport.  Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River.  Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 A First Ave. Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451 or the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust, 404 Elm St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.   Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
