Mrs. Louise M. (Bonvicin) Gifford was born on April 26, 1926, in Mount Vernon, New York. She was the second child and second daughter of Peter and Roma (Flaim) Bonvicin. She spent the first three years of her life in the Bronx, N.Y., then the family moved to Bristol, R.I.
Louise attended Bristol elementary schools and graduated from Colt Memorial High School in 1944. She continued on to Bryant College, where she enjoyed being a member of numerous student clubs and playing basketball. She graduated from Bryant in 1948 and went to work for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C.
Louise then worked as a buyer at Dixon Corporation in Bristol until 1988. She retired and happily took up crossword puzzles, reading novels, and gardening.
In 1952 she married Harold W. Gifford Jr. and had two lovely daughters, Susan L. Gifford and Paula B. Butlin (Todd). She is also survived by her sister, Emma E. Bonvicin, who she moved to live with at Grace Barker Nursing Center in late August 2009 until her death on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service, Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA online at www.aspca.org/donate.
